Our Fast Pitch session (a virtual event) with Cindy Kuzma, freelance and Contributing Editor, Runners World is scheduled for Wed., June 14, at 2 pm ET.
Cindy is investigating the science and medicine of physical performance, including physiological adaptations to physical activity and the prevention and treatment of sports and fitness injuries. She's interested in all athletics, and especially in running. She is also looking for research stories about the psychological aspect of sports and exercise, including the idea that there is a psychological process following injury that parallels the physical recovery process and includes such emotions as grief, denial, self-blame, and eventually, acceptance. Similarly, she's interested in the chemical processes and cognitive and mood changes (including improvements in depression and anxiety) associated with physical activity, along with MRI studies of the brain associated with exercise and sports.
