EVENT DESCRIPTION
Our Fast Pitch session (a virtual event) with Corey S. Powell, Science Editor, Aeon magazine, is scheduled for Wed. Mar. 29 at 2 pm ET. His core interests are astronomy and physics. He describes his interest as “looking for insights that go beyond the immediate news hook and provide a broader perspective” and “big, juicy stories that transcend the insiders perspective,” such as;
•Stephen Hawking's suggested goal of sending a space probe to another star
•Rumors of new particle discoveries that impact theories about the nature of matter
Corey both writes and assigns stories both to freelancers and researchers. He looks for articulate scientists as writers and interviewees. He also recommends authors (mostly scientist authors and Q&A subjects) for American Scientist. He also does his own news coverage for his Discover magazine blog. “It's a bit complicated, I realize, but that mix lets me use a lot of different kinds of story leads.”
You can see Corey's stories at Discover Magazine and more about Corey on his LinkedIn profile.
