EVENT DESCRIPTION

Carol covers health with an international and video focus at the Voice of America. Her audience is in 47 languages. She writes primarily for TV, but she also produces reports for radio and the web. She must have video (interviews and b-roll). Videoconference technology (Zoom or Skype) is acceptable, but not ideal.

Her focus on health news ranges from infectious diseases, such as HIV/AIDS, polio eradication, Zika, Norovirus to influenza and measles (and vaccine and anti-vaccine sentiment) to major medical issues, such as heart disease,
cancer, diabetes, and Alzheimer’s disease. Each story must be of interest to an international audience. Carol plans to invite other members of the science, tech and health team to join her in the Fast Pitch event.

Again, video is essential for her stories. If you have it, show it. If not, let her know if you can arrange and provide b-roll and a video interview using questions she will provide. For an idea of the stories covered by this team, go to
www.voanews.com and click on “Science and Health” or “Technology” in the banner along the top.

You can read Carol's stories at Voice of America and about Carol at her LinkedIn Carol Pearson
